HAZARDS,
TYPES & CONTROL MEASURES
(Explain
with Example of Corona Virus (COVID-19)
Hi,
Readers
Since last many days, I was thinking to write a Blog on “What
is the meaning of Hazards, different types of Hazards and its control measure.
As we everybody Know, today whole world is fighting with
a deadly Diseases “CORONA VIRUS” (COVID-19).
From my deep of
Heart, I am saying that I am not able to stop myself and trying to explain the
topic hazards and its potential harm and risk and also try to explain the hazardous
Corona virus, its symptoms and control measures with the help of this topic.
Hazard means anything or something that potential to
cause harm or loss to peoples by physically or by health and also potential to
cause of loss and damage of property, assets and environment.
There are some different types of Hazards like:
1) Physical
Hazard: slips, trips and falls due to poor housekeeping, spills, fall from
ladder, height, floor covering etc.
2) Mechanical
Hazard: impact, crushing, stabbing, entanglement, shearing etc.
3) Chemical
Hazard: paint, pesticides, acids etc.
4) Ergonomic
Hazard: Lifting injuries, repetitive motion injuries, eye strain etc.
5) Biological
Hazards: Sources of biological hazard , it includes Bacteria, virus, fungi,
insects, birds, animals, plant and humans.
Following are Some Hazards and their associated Risks are:
1) Physical Hazard
Hazard Associated Risk
Asbestos Lung damage, asbestosis,lung cancer.
Cement Dust Lung damage, occupational asthma, dermatitis.
Solvent adhesive Headache, giddiness,nausea,vomiting.
2) Biological Hazard
Hazard Associated Risk
Hepatitis B virus Infected body fluids e.g.used needle, bloods.
Leptospirosis Bacterium Rats urine e.g. sewers, undergrowth
3) Physical Hazard
Hazard Associated Risk
Heat Nausea, sweating, fainting, heat stroke, burning of skin.
Noise Tinnitus, partial or total hearing loss.

Today whole world
fight with A Deadly Diseases “Corona Virus” a kind of Bio logical Hazard which
discover from animals more than 1.6 Lacks of peoples affected by this deadly diseases
and more than 7000 peoples losses their lives due to this COVID-19.
Every day we start our work from morning to evening and
work up to late night and we exposed to many different- different types of hazards like slips, trips, falls, noise, dust,
fumes, sparks, fire, electrical, chemical, gases, fungi, bacteria, virus,
stress, behavior etc …
We exposed to all these hazards, sometime by touch
physically or some time without touching it.
Any job or with any task there is always chance to
potential cause harm .so before doing any job or task, we have always try
to identify the hazards and its
consequence and with proper planning and by using proper control measures try
to controls it.
Today whole world fighting with “corona virus”. More than
160 countries facing a problem of these dangerous “corona virus”, more than 1.6 Lakhs of peoples have infected with this deadly virus and till more than 7000
peoples losses their lives.
Corona virus started from china and slowly slowly it's exposure to whole world. Countries like USA, U.K. Iran, Italy,Spain, Europian
countries and Some middle east countries with south Asian countries, srilanka, bangaladesh,
Pakistan and in India too.
More than 7 Arab population of the whole world, out of that
more than 135 crores (near by 17.8%of world population), in India only.
After China, India
is the second largest populated country
in the world. But I will say thanks to god that this deadly corona virus still
not affected harm to peoples in India. The Numbers of peoples in effected till today is 130 only and as per today news 3 people dead till date.
India is ready, manage and prepared to control this deadly virus.
India is ready, manage and prepared to control this deadly virus.
I will say thanks to our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and our Government that they took right steps at right time and did all the Control Measures, by which today we are able to fight with corona virus. India also raising helping hand towards other countries by
sending medicines, teams of doctors, scientist and many more to countries like
Iran, Bangaladesh, srilanka, Italy, china and America too.
In our field Health safety Environment (HSE), we are always
saying “Safety is a Team Work” Corona virus is a diseases with dangerous to humanity
of this whole world. so I will request to whole peoples of this world and
governments of whole countries of this world to come together and by proper
planning, awareness, information, training, supervision and by monitoring we
can able to win fight with this dangerous Corona virus and sure we will get succeed.
Corona virus symptoms like coughing, fever, diificulty in
breathing etc. If you find any symptoms of COVID-19 or if you think you or any

tissue immediately after use in dust bin.

Hazard:
Anything or something
that potential to cause Harm.
OR
‘A Hazard is a potential source of
harm or adverse health effect on a person or persons’.
Each Hazards have 2 Types of Effects:
1.
Acute(immediate
effect or short term)
2.
Chronic(prolonged
/long term effect)
Types
of Hazards:
1) Physical
Hazard: a person physically get injured when he exposed to particular activity
or situation like slips, trips and falls due to due to poor housekeeping,
spills, fall from ladder, height, floor covering etc.
Examples:
a)Vibration
b) Radiation
c) Noise
d) Lighting
e) Heat
f) Cold
2) Chemical Hazard:Which may be present in the working environment as gases, vapours, mist, fumes, dust etc
a) Fumes
b) Gases
c) Aerosol
d) Mists
e) Liquids
f) Vapours
routes of Entry into Human Body:
A) Inhalation
B) Ingestion
C)Skin Absorption
D) Direct Entry
3) Ergonomics Hazard:Ergonomic is study of the relation between worker, their working environment, work Task and work equipment. The way of Work Activity like twisting, bending, pushing, pulling and their associated risk.
a) Manual Handling
b) Repetitive Movement
c) Restrictive working area
4) Biological Hazard: when a human being come in contact with sources of biologic like bacteria, fungi, virus which can cause variety of health affects like skin irritation, allergies,T.B.,AIDS,Cancer etc.
a) Bacteria
b)Fungi
c) Insect
d) Viruses
e) plants
f) Animals
5) Psychological Hazard:
a) Job Stress
b) job Organization
c) Unsociable Hours
6) Electrical Hazard: When a person come in contact with electricity and due to some fault in wiring, overloading, overheating, cut in wire due to this person get injured and their associated risks.
a) Burns
b) Shocks
c)Arcing
d) Fire & Explosions
7) Mechanical Hazard: it is machine related hazard when a person come in contact with unguarded machine parts and due to this get injured, cut hand fingers etc.
a) Impact
b) Crushing
c) Entanglement
d) Stabbing
e) Shearing.
it is the control method by which hazard & risk control are possible. It is systematic management tools designed to control the hazard and risk. ERICPD
